Why I Don't Use Marketplace Themes

    Filippo Tinnirello

A $60 theme looks like a bargain, but for an agency, it's often a liability. Here is why I strictly build on clean foundations, not bloated templates.

The "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" Problem

Marketplace themes are built to sell to everyone. They include sliders, six types of portfolios, e-commerce layouts, and event calendars—all loaded on every page request. This creates massive technical debt (CSS/JS bloat) that kills Core Web Vitals scores.

    Lock-in Effect

Many premium themes rely on bundled plugins or proprietary builders. If the theme author stops updating the theme (which happens frequently), you are stuck with a broken site that cannot be updated without a total rebuild.

    My Professional Alternative

I use a "Starter Theme" approach (like Underscores or custom lightweight bases) or professional frameworks like Kadence. We add only what we need.

    • Lean Codebase: Fast load times, happy Google.
    • Security: Fewer third-party plugins means fewer attack vectors.
    • Longevity: Your site is built on standard WordPress practices, not a proprietary theme system.

Stop fighting rigid templates. Let's build a custom solution that fits your agency's brand perfectly and performs flawlessly.
