Frontend vs. Backend: Structuring Complex WordPress Teams
The "Full Stack" WordPress unicorn is a myth in enterprise projects. To deliver excellence, you need specialists. Here is how I collaborate with backend teams.
The Limit of "Doing It All"
In small brochure sites, one dev can handle everything. But when you have custom React blocks, bi-directional CRM syncing, and complex database queries, context switching kills productivity. A developer worrying about CSS animations often overlooks database security, and vice versa.
My Role: The Frontend Specialist
I focus explicitly on the Frontend / Design-to-Code layer.
- What I Own: The Theme, HTML/CSS/JS, Animations, Gutenberg Blocks, Accessibility, Core Web Vitals, and Content Structure (ACF).
- What I Don't Own: Server management, heavy API logic, plugin architecture, complex data migration.
Winning Together
When I partner with an agency, I love working alongside a dedicated backend dev. They build the robust engine; I build the beautiful, performant chassis. This separation allows us to work in parallel, doubles our QA effectiveness, and results in a product that is both solid and stunning.
Building a Specialized Team?
If you have the backend covered but need a frontend partner to bring the design to life, I'm the perfect fit.
